Through examination of the fitting formulas advanced for the energies of the one-component plasmas (OCPs), we show that the sign of the deviations for the BIM energies from the linear mixing values cannot be determined from Monte Carlo simulation data for the energies alone. Instead, the sum rule with respect to the OCP screening potential at the origin is shown to be useful in judging the sign of the deviations. By using the best values currently available for the screening potential, we find that the deviations take on negative values in accordance with the prediction by Ogata, Iyetomi, Ichimaru, and Van Horn [Phys.
